About The Position

Denver Health Medical Center has an opportunity for a dynamic leader to join our team as an Associate Chief Medical Officer. The Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) reports to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and provides leadership for clinical operations across the hospital and specialty clinics, ensuring high-quality, efficient care delivery. The role oversees physicians and clinical staff while partnering closely with Operations, Finance, and Quality to optimize utilization management, accurate billing and coding, revenue integrity, hospital flow, emergency management, and transfer center activities. The ACMO is responsible for developing policies, advancing standards of care, and leading enterprise-wide initiatives that strengthen clinical, financial, and operational performance. This position blends administrative leadership with active clinical practice, requiring exceptional communication, data analysis, and collaboration skills to align patient care with organizational strategy.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree Required.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible and directly related management experience with committees, organization-wide projects, medical staff, or large clinical departments.
  • Strong clinical background.
  • MD/DO- Physician - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required.
  • Ability to extract, analyze, and interpret clinical, operational, quality, and financial data.
  • Committed to continuous quality improvement and patient-centered care.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal experience with improvement methods, including LEAN, Six Sigma, or PDSA.
  • Willingness to participate in Denver Health's LEAN Academy.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and leads the management and oversight of clinical services, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and protocols.
  • Monitors and improves clinical operations to enhance quality, safety, and patient experience metrics.
  • Provides guidance, supervision, and leadership to medical and clinical staff.
  • Leads development and implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Utilizes data from electronic health records (EHRs), clinical operations, finance, and revenue integrity to analyze trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participates actively and collaboratively in clinical leadership and executive meetings.
  • Maintains a partial clinical practice of at least 30% time.
