About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a part-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to assist the Chief CRNA in providing administrative leadership for all staff CRNAs. The CRNAs will provide anesthesia services to patients of all ages at Strong Memorial Hospital under the medical direction of faculty members from the Department of Anesthesiology. The position involves leadership, mentorship, scheduling, communication, and administrative responsibilities.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Graduate of a school of nurse anesthesia accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
• Current A.A.N.A. membership in active practicing category.
• CRNA - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists with orienting new CRNAs to the department and completes initial competency review.
• Brings CRNA concerns to the attention of Chief Clinical Coordinator and Chief CRNA.
• Serves as Crew Chief to assist with day-to-day OR choreography.
• Mentors CRNAs and SRNAs, and nurses interested in becoming CRNAs.
• Provides feedback to Clinical Coordinators regarding staff assignments and workflows.
• Reviews clinical assignments for the following day with the Clinical Coordinator.
• Assists with scheduling CRNA assignments during new hire orientation.
• Communicates updates and issues to the CRNA group as needed.
• Contributes to and updates CRNA Orientation Manuals.
• Assists with onboarding new locums CRNAs.
• Acts as a POCT Superuser and ensures training is up to date.
• Participates in departmental and hospital committees as required.
• Performs written annual reviews for CRNAs as delegated.
• Leads regular meetings with the CRNA group and moderates CRNA Longevity Working Group.
