About The Position

We are seeking compassionate individuals who are trained in basic spiritual‑care assessments and interventions to support our patients, families, and staff. In this PRN role, you will: Provide basic spiritual‑care assessments and offer supportive interventions. Assist patients and families in incorporating their spiritual or cultural traditions into their care plan. Offer emotional and spiritual support during both crisis and non‑crisis situations. Support individuals of all faiths—and those with no faith—while helping connect them to their own faith communities when desired. Identify when a case requires advanced support and refer complex situations or ethical concerns to a staff or clinical chaplain. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, adaptable, and committed to supporting holistic care on an as‑needed basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Must be involved with a recognized faith group.
  • Training in pastoral ministry and/or hospital chaplaincy.
  • Must attend CISM training at least every two years.

Nice To Haves

  • Theological or Healthcare care education preferred.
  • Equivalencies for the undergraduate and/or graduate level theological degree would be acceptable for faith traditions that do not offer degrees. Declaration and documentation of equivalencies are required.
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement preferred.
  • One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, provide and documents effective spiritual care to patients, families and associates including listening, counseling and prayer.
  • Supports individuals from diverse economic, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds.
  • Provides calming support for individuals in crisis, undergoing procedures, facing end-of-life decisions and traumatic events.
  • Proactively participates in interdisciplinary delivery of holistic patient care services through rounding, departmental meetings and family conferences.
  • Responds to patients, families and associates with ethical decision-making, values and discernment makes.
  • Participates and leads spiritual care groups.
