About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York ( PAGNY ) is adding an Associate Chairperson/Internal Medicine Residency Program Director to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health. The Hospital is part of NYC Health + Hospitals. South Brooklyn Health is a redesigned health care campus featuring the new 11-floor Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital which provides emergency care, modern labor & delivery suites, and state-of-the-art surgical services. Opportunity Details: Work with appropriate medical leadership and provide clinical direction to direct reports to set patient care standards, establish clinical goals and objects to ensure the strategic implementation of best practices and program development for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Maintain current knowledge of and compliance with the ACGME Program Requirements pertaining to the residency program, as well as any other program policies and procedures, subspecialty program requirements, etc. Develop an educational curriculum as defined in the ACGME Program Requirements for the internal medicine specialty. Responsible for the administration and educational activities of the Division Residency Program, including direct supervision of all program residents. Participate in GME Committee, subcommittees and task forces, including program representation at all GME Committee meetings, and Internal Review panels as requested. Maintain accurate and complete program files in compliance with institutional records retention policies. Ensure that residents comply with ACGME Resident Surveys. Facilitate residents’ participation in the educational and scholarly activities of the program, and insurance that they assume responsibility for teaching and supervising other residents and students. Ensure residents’ attendance at educational offerings required by the institution. Ensure that the program’s policies regarding evaluation and performance feedback are followed for all residents within the program. Provide oversight and liaison with appropriate personnel of other institutions participating in the residency training. Manage clinical scheduling of residents and monitor residents’ duty hours as required by ACGME regulation. Provide a final evaluation for each resident who completes the program. This evaluation must include a review of the resident’s performance during the final period of education and should verify that the resident has demonstrated sufficient professional ability to practice competently and independently. Provide direct patient care outside of resident program panels as required by the department Chairperson. Maintain all required compliances in accordance with Medical Staff Appointment guidelines. Provide leadership and represent the Department of Medicine in the Chairperson’s absence, as assigned by the Department Chairperson.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching and supervising residents in Internal Medicine.
  • Graduate of an approved medical school.
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine.
  • NYS Medical License in good standing.
  • Possession of a valid DEA license.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years clinical practice plus experience as an associate program director or program director preferred.
  • Internal Medicine program is approximately 80 residents.

Benefits

  • Annual Base Salary: $309,000 based on 40-hour work week.
  • The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $379,900 , which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below:
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits): Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required. After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
