About The Position

The Associate Campus Pastor (ACP) will be a multi-faceted leader cultivating a warm and inviting environment for guests while fostering deeper connections within our congregation. The ACP will also help people engage more deeply in the ministry of the church through small groups, serving teams, events and programs, and personal discipleship. To accomplish this work, the ACP will recruit, build and manage a strong team of volunteers while supporting and encouraging their spiritual growth and development. This position will play a pivotal role in shaping the spiritual growth of the people on their campus and of Menlo Church as a whole. Through their leadership and volunteer teams, the ACP will foster a culture where everyone—guests, attendees, and church members—feels loved, supported, and encouraged to take the next step in their relationship with God. This is meant to be a developmental role that will work closely with the campus pastor (CP). The ACP will assist the CP as needed in areas of campus leadership including care, group leadership, and project management. The CP will work with the ACP on developing skills and experience so they will be well-rounded and prepared for future ministry leadership in a variety of settings.

  • College degree (ministry, biblical & theological studies preferred)
  • Equivalent experience actively working in ministry, as staff or volunteer (multi-site context preferred)
  • Experience overseeing and developing others
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting volunteers
  • Proficient communication, able to speak clearly and be understood by others. Identifying and understanding the speech of another person. Stand or sit for prolonged amounts of time
  • Walk, bend, twist, and kneel
  • Finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment
  • Lift and carry up to 20 pounds with or without assistance
  • Live out their personal relationship with Jesus Christ by growing more in His likeness, eager to share and see others come to know true hope.
  • Demonstrate active engagement as a member of Menlo Church by: Regularly attending and inviting others to services, connecting in community through groups, volunteering in a ministry, and committing to giving to the mission and vision of Menlo Church.
  • Holds themself and others accountable to live and love others with integrity and diligence in light of their identity in Christ.
  • Hold compatible theological beliefs in alignment with the essential tenets of ECO, as outlined on their website (https://eco-pres.org).

Responsibilities

  • Work as a cohesive and supportive member of the campus team to further the vision of Menlo Church.
  • Collaborate with the central Spiritual Formation team and other central staff as needed.
  • Implement the Spiritual Formation strategy inviting people into the church and guiding them to take the next step in their relationship with God.
  • Be a visible and active presence on campus during program times. Build relationships with the congregation, volunteer staff, and especially visitors beyond Sunday worship. Be available for follow up meetings, times of prayer, etc.
  • Recruit, lead, develop and manage leaders and coaches for your ministry areas.
  • Oversee hospitality and guest services in conjunction with worship services.
  • Manage first-time guest follow-up through Planning Center workflows.
  • Communicate with volunteers through various channels appropriately and consistently.
  • Promptly assist congregants in finding an appropriate next step of connection (Life Group, serving team, event, program, etc.).
  • Execute environments and strategic events with excellence including Discover Menlo and Menlo Next consistent with Menlo’s strategy
  • Support the CP in assisting with basic pastoral care and referrals as needed and appropriate. Assist with memorials as appropriate.
  • Work with campus admins and central leaders to keep gathering spaces and decor functional, fresh, inviting, and free of clutter.
  • Additional duties and special projects as assigned.
