The Opportunity This position works out of our Dallas, TX location in the Transfusion Medicine, Diagnostics Division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision-making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people. The Associate Calibration Tech will be responsible for performing calibration functions on testing and measuring equipment throughout all Manufacturing and Research operations. This position impacts upon the accuracy of the company's measurement and process equipment, subsequent product quality and is essential to meeting Quality Systems Requirements and other compliance requirements. The Calibration Technician performs precise calibrations per written and automated procedures on measuring and testing equipment, tools, gauges, and fixtures as defined by the calibration schedule. On equipment that cannot be maintained internally, works with the supervisor or other technicians to coordinate the calibration with a certified outside source. Maintains clear and concise records to facilitate timely problem identification and to comply with internal and external regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED, an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience.

  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Performs set-up, testing, repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of all area-specific equipment, materials, systems, and our products.
  • Works with senior technicians to troubleshoot and solve problems requiring interpretation of procedures and practices.
  • Collects, complies, measures, summarizes, records, and documents specific data gathered during a calibration.
  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes own daily work routine to meet established schedule and assigned tasks or projects.
  • Communicates as a team member with other functional groups as well as with internal customers.
