About The Position

Nuuly is looking for an Associate Buyer who is responsible for creating an exciting and timely product assortment for the Sweaters & Sweatshirts class that meets all planned goals and targets. They are able to execute the vision of the business and intuitively respond to customer feedback and market trends. The Associate Buyer is responsible for facilitating the product life-cycle from conception to post-season analysis and is also responsible for the assisting in the growth and success of the merchandise assistant on the team

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years within a buying role in a retail or rental environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time; exhibits a high sense of urgency
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of fashion trends
  • Proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets (including VLOOKUP, formula-writing

Responsibilities

  • Analyze weekly, monthly and seasonal rentals & purchases, stock and on order with the goal of optimizing rentals and box economics
  • Present findings in monthly business reviews, monthly OTB and seasonal hindsight
  • Work with planner to manage the financial elements of the business – style buy ranks, OTB, AUC, IMU, obsoletes for assigned class
  • Know product for total Nuuly – understand best and worst renters and what sets them apart
  • Contact vendors about reorders and place reorders where possible
  • Consistently run attribute reports and know current rental & purchase trends, on-hand and on-order for critical attributes
  • Manage styles to the plan, ensuring that the assortment is properly balanced by archetypes, silhouettes, fabrics, patterns, color, price points, etc. and that we are taking the correct inventory position with key items and taking calculated risks
  • Identify the appropriate products and trends that will appeal to the customer and exceed their expectations
  • Attend markets and shows both in person and virtually
  • Read all current trend publications
  • Understand the competition, target customer and brand-specific fashion trends
  • Work with own brand buying teams to align on big ideas and place commits and purchase orders on time
  • Rank and negotiate all orders for the class
  • Coordinate with planner on extensions – initiate appropriate penalties/discounts
  • Negotiate RTVs and manage fit and quality issues (including an understanding of what product is suitable for rental)
  • Ensure photo studio team receives samples in a timely manner
  • Work with MA and web production to ensure styles are activated on site in a timely manner
  • Communicate changes, concerns, orders and reorders with vendors
  • Communicate in a professional, succinct and positive manner
  • Work with Merchandising team to communicate concept and trend information – new set ups, vendors, looks, items
  • Maintain a level of confidence when communicating with coworkers at all levels; must have the ability to manage up and down
  • Partner and build relationships with planning and marketing teams
