ROLE OVERVIEW The Associate Buyer plays a key supporting role in driving category performance and executing merchandising strategies across a defined product area. Reporting to the Buyer or Divisional Merchandise Manager (DMM), the Associate Buyer supports assortment planning, vendor coordination, and in-season execution to ensure the category delivers financially and resonates with fans. This role blends analytical rigor with product passion and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in Merchandising, Buying, or retail analytics.
  • Strong analytical capability with comfort working in Excel and reporting tools.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Passion for product, sports, and fan engagement.
  • Growth mindset with desire to develop into a full category owner.

Responsibilities

  • Assortment & Category Execution Support development and execution of the category strategy aligned to financial and brand goals.
  • Assist in building balanced assortments grounded in data, trend awareness, and fan insights.
  • Manage product setup, SKU rationalization, and lifecycle execution from buy through markdown.
  • Partner with Planning to monitor inventory flow, sales trends, and OTB performance.
  • Vendor & Partner Coordination Support communication and follow-up with vendor partners on buys, production timelines, and deliverables.
  • Assist in seasonal assortment reviews and go-to-market preparation.
  • Help maintain vendor matrices and ensure product data accuracy across systems.
  • Business Performance & Analytics Track weekly sales, margin, and inventory performance.
  • Prepare reporting and provide insights to support pricing and promotional decisions.
  • Identify risks and opportunities in-season and escalate with recommended actions.
  • Support markdown execution and inventory health initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Planning, Site Merchandising, Marketing, and Supply Chain to ensure flawless execution.
  • Support onboarding of Assistant Buyers or Coordinators as applicable.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration and shared accountability
