About The Position

The Associate, Business Control & Risk Management plays a crucial role in ensuring effective execution of business line operations within the Enterprise Risk Management Framework. This position is responsible for identifying and assessing key risks, ensuring adherence to risk frameworks, and facilitating communication and training within the business line. The Associate will work closely with various stakeholders to monitor risk indicators and support risk initiatives, contributing to a culture of risk awareness and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Risk Management, Internal Controls, Auditing, Credit Management, or relevant line of business experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading risk projects across multiple business lines.
  • Knowledge of the financial services sector, particularly in retail banking and risk management.
  • Advanced understanding of the regulatory environment and risk perceptions by regulators.
  • Ability to build credibility and influence line of business executives.
  • Excellent analytical and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in legal or regulatory environments related to financial services.
  • Familiarity with compliance and operational risk management frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Drive awareness of risk frameworks, policies, and standards within the Business Line.
  • Develop appropriate metrics and deliver relevant and accurate data to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate training for Business Lines on risk frameworks and policies.
  • Partner with the Second Line of Defense (SLoD) to review and provide input on risk frameworks and policies.
  • Monitor all sources of risk within the Business Line and externally.
  • Engage in research and networking to anticipate critical risk issues.
  • Assess and improve controls to mitigate operational, strategic, reputational, compliance, and model risks.
  • Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and report on negative trends in the Business Line.
  • Maintain risk profile within the established Risk Appetite.
