About The Position

The Associate Bursar at Oklahoma State University is responsible for overseeing student financial records, including billing, payments, receivables, and refund processing. This role involves collaboration with various departments to ensure compliance with federal regulations and university policies, as well as managing the overall operations of the Bursar's Office. The Associate Bursar plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial systems and safeguarding federal aid, while also contributing to special projects and training initiatives.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Business, Accounting, or Management.
• Five years of Higher Education Fiscal Experience or seven years of Banking or Financial Institution Experience or seven years in a public fiscal position.
• Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in higher education in student accounts and/or student financial aid.
• Proficiency in computer billing systems, preferably Banner and TouchNet.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
• Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance of student financial records including billing, payments, and receivables.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations and federal laws regarding student loans.
• Manage the collection, accounting, and depositing of all funds due to the University.
• Assist the Bursar in day-to-day operations and departmental oversight.
• Accountable for special projects and continued education and training within the department.
