The Associate Biomedical Engineer is responsible for assisting our advanced therapeutics team at IVIVA Medical in design, production, and maintenance of bioreactor systems and components, and in design, production, and analysis of tissue scaffolds and components.

Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling software (Solidworks, OnShape, Fusion 360, etc.)
  • Experience in 3D printing
  • Experience in device design and construction
  • Experience in aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture
  • Ability to interpret technical data like electronic circuit diagrams, schematics, and blueprints
  • Ability to use mathematics to solve problems
  • Ability to organize and present data
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with scientists and research associates to design, manufacture, and maintain bioreactor equipment, ensuring the preparation and upkeep of bioreactors for tissue-engineered constructs, with oversight and guidance
  • Work closely with scientists and research associates to design, manufacture, and characterize tissue scaffolds, enabling cell seeding and enhancing functional outcomes, with oversight and guidance
  • Work closely with scientists and research associates to design, manufacture, and maintain physiologic testing equipment, ensuring the functional assessment of tissue-engineered constructs, with oversight and guidance
  • Prepare reagents and solutions to support scaffold production and tissue engineering experiments
  • Maintain and track the inventory of scaffold materials, scaffolds, and bioreactors, collaborating closely with cell and scaffold production teams
  • Adhere to established protocols to perform analytical techniques and biochemical assays for scaffold production and tissue engineering experiments
  • Accurately record all data in the in-house data management system(s)
  • Assist in preparing data results for presentation to the team
  • Meet 1:1 with managers to review results and progress
  • Perform all other duties as required
