About The Position

The Associate Banker delivers exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects by identifying their financial needs and providing advice on suitable solutions. This role involves collaborating with BMO partners to identify referral opportunities and grow customer relationships beyond personal banking. As a lobby leader, the Associate Banker welcomes and guides customers, offering advice on digital and self-serve options, and conducting conversations about banking services to recommend alternative channels and provide personal banking and investment advice. Key responsibilities include meeting customer transaction-based needs, reviewing customer profiles for opportunities, addressing everyday banking plans and credit card needs, and contributing to branch business results and customer experience. The role also encompasses supporting operational activities such as inventory management, escalated service requests, following up on customer applications, filing, and branch opening/closing activities. The Associate Banker is a vital member of a collaborative and versatile branch and market team, integrating marketing promotions into customer conversations and ensuring accuracy and completeness of work information. They are expected to take initiative to personalize customer experiences, contribute to continuous improvement, and maintain strict adherence to risk and compliance processes and policies to safeguard customer assets and privacy. This includes staying current with the financial services marketplace, legal and regulatory environments, and personal banking products and trends, as well as identifying and reporting suspicious activities related to money laundering. The position requires compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, protection of Bank assets, and the ability to complete complex tasks, analyze issues, and escalate as needed, all while applying BMO's Risk Management Framework.

Requirements

Typically between 1 – 2 years of relevant experience and/or certification in related field of study desirable or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Canada only: Registration to sell investment products completed or in progress (must be completed within 12 months) - as appropriate for the jurisdiction.
Confident and experienced in the use of social media, tablets, Smart phones, online tools, and applications.
Some experience in a consultative customer service or sales roles, with a drive to deliver a personal customer experience.
Basic knowledge of specialized sales and business banking solutions to refer to specialists.
