About The Position

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP has an immediate opening for an associate (class of 2020 through 2021) to join its New York Finance practice section, focusing on aviation-related transactions. Pillsbury’s aircraft finance lawyers represent major banks, private equity firms, leasing companies, airlines, investors, traders, and manufacturers in a wide range of aviation transactions, including financing (lending and capital markets transactions), leasing, trading, restructuring, enforcement of aviation-related assets, and the establishment of joint ventures and other aircraft leasing platforms.

Requirements

• Large law firm experience, including working with multiple internal and external clients and managing multiple matters simultaneously.
• Strong academic background.
• Exceptional drafting, negotiating, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while being part of a cohesive team.
• Must be admitted to practice in New York.

Responsibilities

• Be familiar with secured, unsecured, and guaranteed financing transactions, the rules governing security interests under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code, and the Cape Town Convention.
• Manage and close financing transactions of $100+ million.
• Draft and negotiate credit agreements, indentures, leases, purchase agreements, and related documentation.
• Advise clients on the interpretation of such documents, both orally and in writing.
• Understand the aviation finance and leasing industry, as well as corporate, tax and insolvency matters related to such transactions.
