About The Position

Floom Energy Law PLLC is seeking an Associate Attorney with energy regulatory experience to join our boutique firm. This associate will have the opportunity to advise and represent clients on a variety of energy regulatory and policy matters. Floom Energy Law represents natural gas pipelines and shippers, liquids shippers, and renewable energy companies in federal and state regulatory proceedings.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of, and experience with, energy regulatory principles and policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize based on need, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs and LexisNexis.
  • A JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Must be in good standing with a recognized state or District of Columbia bar.
  • Experience with energy regulatory issues and administrative proceedings, preferably with FERC experience.

Responsibilities

  • Represent our client’s best interests in administrative energy regulatory proceedings before FERC and/or state regulatory commissions with a focus on electric, natural gas, or liquids issues.
  • Review agency dockets and report important filings to clients.
  • Work directly with Managing Member in developing legal, policy, and strategic advice for clients related to representation in administrative proceedings with the goal of taking on increasing responsibility to manage complex cases independently.
  • Interface directly with clients to assist in the implementation of strategic legal and policy advice.
  • Attend hearings, conferences, and negotiations with counterparties as a representative of client issues.
  • Attend national trainings and conferences.
  • Develop and provide compliance training for clients.
  • Significant opportunity to assist in developing a future-oriented practice focused on emerging energy areas.
  • Available to bill 1200 – 1500 hours annually.
