About The Position

Our client is a growing regional law firm specializing in creditors' rights and collections law. The firm maintains a strong reputation for providing skilled legal representation and solutions-focused client service across multiple states in the Southeast and Midwest. We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to manage legal matters in creditors' rights and civil litigation from inception through post-judgment remedies. This position is well-suited for a newly barred attorney eager to develop expertise in debt collection law and expand bar admissions across multiple states. You will work closely with managing counsel to build a high-volume practice while providing expert guidance on federal debt collection laws and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina law license
  • 0-3 years of experience in bankruptcy, collections, civil litigation, or related legal practice areas
  • Knowledge of federal debt collection laws and state civil litigation procedures
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel to courts throughout North Carolina for client representation
  • Willingness to work with high-volume caseloads

  • Recent NC UBE passage
  • Eagerness and ability to pursue additional bar admissions in SC, TN, FL, VA, MD, MI, OH, and other states
  • Experience in collections or creditors' rights practice

Responsibilities

  • Manage high-volume caseload while maintaining focus on solutions-oriented, fair outcomes for clients
  • Conduct legal research, prepare pleadings, and demonstrate strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Provide respectful client interactions and counsel clients on legal and regulatory risks
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel to efficiently resolve cases and reach sustainable payment resolutions
  • Travel to courts throughout North Carolina to represent clients at hearings and court proceedings
  • Collaborate with Managing Attorney to report on case activity, results, and case progression
