About The Position

Qualcomm is seeking an attorney to join its in-house legal team in San Diego, focusing on supporting its growing automotive business. Qualcomm’s existing automotive in-house legal team works on a wide range of matters across the business---from drafting/negotiating complex commercial agreements to advising clients on legal issues related to customer/supplier transactions, motor vehicle equipment safety and other automotive safety-related and regulatory matters. This role requires a self-starter who is eager to learn and who possesses sophisticated negotiating and drafting skills that can be utilized for all aspects of commercial contracting and lifecycle management across various software and hardware technologies. The ideal candidates will have automotive technology, intellectual property and regulatory backgrounds. Additionally, experience handling intellectual property issues and automotive product safety are strongly preferred. This role is located in San Diego, CA and requires onsite work (5 days a week).

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience as counsel at a law firm or in-house.
  • Active bar license to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the employee will be practicing (or ability to obtain upon hiring).

  • Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience as counsel at a law firm.
  • Experience with technology-based commercial transactions, preferably in an automotive field.
  • Intellectual property background and experience.
  • Automotive product liability and/or automotive safety regulatory background is preferred.
  • Active bar license to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the employee will be practicing (or ability to obtain upon hiring, Registered In House Counsel in California sufficient).
  • Can work independently but collaboratively
  • Self-starter who is intellectually curious and has a desire to learn

Responsibilities

  • Contract drafting, negotiations, support and management for automotive technologies
  • Support business client with automotive safety, security and regulatory matters
  • Enable automotive business while mitigating risk.
  • Support team members on various projects, automotive regulatory conformance and process improvements.
  • Team mentality where we win and lose together and no task is too big or too small.
