About The Position
If you're a new attorney - or early in your career - and looking for meaningful work where your advocacy directly impacts individuals and families this role may be a great fit. Our firm focuses on Social Security Disability law helping people navigate a complex system during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. We're looking for an Associate Attorney who is eager to learn compassionate and ready to build a long-term career in disability advocacy. Prior experience in Social Security or disability law is not required - we provide training mentorship and support to help you succeed.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in South Dakota or ability to become licensed shortly
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Compassion patience and a client-focused mindset
- Ability to manage deadlines and work through detailed information
- Interest in public service advocacy or disability law
- No or minimal legal experience required. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in Social Security Disability matters (initial claims reconsiderations and hearings)
- Prepare and review case files medical records and legal documentation
- Communicate with clients medical providers and the Social Security Administration
- Advocate for clients at hearings (training and support provided)
- Collaborate with experienced attorneys and support staff to deliver strong client outcomes
