About The Position

The Staff Attorney provides legal advice and strategic counsel on employee relations matters, employment law compliance, employment and business litigation support, and commercial legal activities. This role partners closely with Human Resources/General Affairs, General Counsel, and business leadership to mitigate risk, support company litigation matters, ensure legal compliance, support operational objectives, and manage legal matters across employment and commercial functions. The position requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Texas.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in employment law, employment litigation, and/or general business litigation.
  • Working knowledge of Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, FLSA, and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and statutes.
  • Strong legal drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build effective professional relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and privileged information appropriately.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in an office or remote work environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via written and verbal methods.
  • Ability to use standard office technology and computer systems.
  • Ability to travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in business, and corporate matters.
  • Knowledge of U.S. healthcare law, and regulatory requirements such as FDA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal analysis, risk assessment, and guidance to internal stakeholders on employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, workplace complaints, and policy interpretation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, FLSA, and related federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Partner with Human Resources/General Affairs to review employment-related policies, contracts, handbooks, and procedures to ensure legal compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Along with outside counsel, represent and support the company in employment litigation, business litigation, administrative proceedings, or pre-litigation negotiations.
  • Support litigation readiness by ensuring proper documentation, privilege protections, and defensible employment practices.
  • Manage and supervise outside counsel, including strategy development, cost management, and legal outcomes.
  • Conduct legal risk assessments and provide practical recommendations aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies for dispute resolution and enforcement of company rights.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including product licensing, distribution, outsourcing, vendor supply, capital equipment acquisition, retail, private label, and other domestic and international contracts.
  • Ensure contracts align with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and risk management protocols.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by management.
