About The Position

Goodspeed Merrill is a fast-growing, collaborative law firm with a dynamic Employment Law Practice Group. Due to a substantial influx of corporate and litigation work, a growing client base, heightened demand for employment counsel, and high demand for handbook policy architecture, we are seeking a motivated Associate to join our team. This role primarily supports the day-to-day advising side of the practice, offering the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys and gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of employment law matters in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Experience: 0–5 years of experience practicing employment law. While litigation experience is not required, a proactive mindset is essential.
  • Education: Juris Doctor from an accredited university.
  • Licensed: Licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado required.
  • Skills: Strong research, writing, and analytical skills with excellent communication and client service abilities.
  • Attributes: Highly organized, reliable, and able to manage deadlines independently with sharp attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Advise & Consult: Provide clients with guidance on employment law compliance, best practices, and pre-litigation severance reviews.
  • Draft & Negotiate: Prepare, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, severance packages, and workplace policies.
  • Compliance Leadership: Collaborate on high-demand projects involving employee handbook reviews, implementation, and regular updates.
  • Corporate Support: Assist with corporate due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Litigation Support: Provide critical support on litigation matters, including research, pleadings, discovery, and motion practice, and participate in mediations, hearings, and meetings.
  • Investigations: Participate in and conduct workplace investigations and employment audits.
  • Research: Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on evolving employment law issues.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with attorneys across the practice groups to handle complex client matters.

  • Salary Range: $135,000 - $150,000 (commensurate with experience).
