Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active license in good standing in the State of Michigan
  • 1+ years of experience in estate planning, elder law, or related areas, including internships or clinic experience
  • Strong interest in building a career in elder law and estate planning
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Clear and professional communication with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Conduct consultations with clients to understand their estate planning goals and objectives
  • Provide legal counsel on wills, trusts, powers of attorney, long-term care planning, and Medicaid planning
  • Collaborate with financial planners, tax professionals, and elder care coordinators to deliver well-rounded solutions
  • Stay current on changes in estate planning, probate, and Medicaid laws
  • Maintain accurate and organized client records and case documentation
  • Represent clients in non-contested probate proceedings and guardianship matters
