About The Position

Segal McCambridge, a national litigation firm, is seeking an Associate Attorney for its general liability team in our New York City office. This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys looking to hone their litigation skills in a collegial environment. The successful candidate will work on a variety of matters, enjoy autonomy, while still being afforded the benefit of working in a team environment, and receiving training and mentorship from partners with deep experience in these practice areas. This is a hybrid position, with a flexible mixture of remote and intermittent in-office attendance.

Requirements

• Current, active license to practice law in New York.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in general liability / insurance defense litigation.
• Experience in drafting pleadings, written discovery, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage deadlines effectively.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues and produce top quality work.
• Willingness to be proactive and take ownership of projects and assignments.

Nice To Haves

• Dual licensure with CT, NJ, and/or PA or another jurisdiction.
• Experience handling mediations/arbitrations.

Responsibilities

• Work on a variety of general liability matters including personal injury, auto, premises liability, toxic tort, trucking, and child victim act cases.
• Draft pleadings, written discovery, motions, and other related litigation documents.
• Perform legal research and analysis of complex legal issues.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Report to clients and/or insurance carriers regarding case progress.
• Manage case files from inception through resolution/trial in collaboration with a supervising partner.
