About The Position

The Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Physics position involves teaching responsibilities primarily in Organic Chemistry and General Chemistry, along with advanced courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Requirements

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry required
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry required
  • Proven track record of research involving undergraduate students (peer-reviewed publications, presentations, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty, and colleagues
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms including Banner, Canvas, Blackboard, & Adobe Connect
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication
  • Familiarity with chemical laboratory safety issues
  • Ability to design and implement novel teaching lab modalities
  • Ability to set up and maintain a research program involving undergraduate students

Responsibilities

  • Teaching Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 (lab and lecture)
  • Teaching General Chemistry 1 and 2 (lab and lecture)
  • Teaching advanced courses within the candidate's area of expertise
  • Providing undergraduate student academic advisement
  • Participating in service activities to support the Department, University, and Community, including textbook selection and course design
  • Engaging in committee work as required
