About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Associate and Experienced Structural Design Engineer - (Level 2 and Level 3) to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
  • 2 or more years of experience in mechanical and/or structural design.
  • 2 or more years of experience creating, executing, reviewing, and managing structural design models.
  • 2 or more years of experience working conceptual, preliminary and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables.
  • 2 or more years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • 2 or more years of experience in CAD/CAM software (CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Siemens NX).

Nice To Haves

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance.
  • Experience validating or verifying structural models.
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills.
  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures, secondary structures, interior payloads.
  • UPR/MRB experience in commercial derivative platforms.
  • Experience with analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods.
  • Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests).
  • Participates in technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
  • Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of structural commodities.
  • Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product lifecycle.
  • Supports cross-functional teams to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances.
  • Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design (Level 3).
  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals (Level 3).
  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort (Level 3).
  • Directs cross-functional teams to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances (Level 3).
