About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Associate and Experienced Structural Design Engineer – (Level 2 and Level 3) to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Position Responsibilities: (Level 2) Assists to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals. Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests). Participates in technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection. Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of structural commodities. Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product lifecycle. Supports cross-functional teams to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances. Works under general supervision. Participates in technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection. Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of structural commodities. Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product lifecycle. Directs cross-functional teams to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances Works under general direction

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 2 or more years of experience in mechanical and/or structural design
  • 2 or more years of experience creating, executing, reviewing, and managing structural design models
  • 2 or more years of experience working conceptual, preliminary and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables
  • 2 or more years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • 2 or more years of experience in CAD/CAM software (CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Siemens NX)
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance
  • Experience validating or verifying structural models
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures, secondary structures, interior payloads
  • UPR/MRB experience in commercial derivative platforms
  • Experience with analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
