About The Position

This actuarial role is dedicated to supporting the ERM function for Aspida. This position will play a key role in the continued maturity of the ERM infrastructure at Aspida of ERM which includes actuarial analyses, leveraging technical skills, and active participation in the rollout and integration of key new policies and frameworks, ensuring effective implementation and operationalization. This role will report to the AVP, ERM and is required to be onsite 3 days a week at our Durham, NC headquarters.

Requirements

  • Actuarial designation with a minimum of 5 years of actuarial experience.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, particularly in working with large datasets.
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or similar statistical software or programming languages.
  • Experience with GGY AXIS or other actuarial modeling systems.
  • Solid understanding of risk management principles and methodologies.
  • Preferred experience in annuity, asset, and reinsurance businesses.
  • Excellent communication skills — verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation.
  • Highly motivated, conceptual thinker with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across a wide range of assignments.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across various business units.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Continued development and implementation of an industry-leading risk management framework.
  • Support the analysis and summarization of financial projections used across the business.
  • Analyze stress testing results on financial outcomes and clearly explain the key drivers behind those results.
  • Evaluate the impact of deterministic and stochastic scenarios on Aspida’s financial performance.
  • Monitor Aspida’s Key Risk and Performance Indicators including liquidity risk and collateral management metrics.
  • Enhance risk appetite framework, stress testing methodology, and risk management reporting to provide deeper insights into the business and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with actuaries, finance, asset managers, the M&A team, and other first line functions to build and enhance risk reporting around key strategic initiatives and support decision making.
  • Prepare and enhance Aspida’s Own Risk Solvency Analysis (ORSA).
  • Stays current on industry trends and regulatory developments both domestically and internationally.
