About The Position

UMR is the nation’s largest third-party administrator (TPA), proudly serving over 3,800 benefit plans and more than 6 million members. This Associate Accountant position is part of the Fund Administration team, which is at the financial core of UMR’s operations. The role involves managing employer and member contributions, ensuring accurate fund accounting, supporting financial reporting, and upholding the integrity of plan funding and disbursements. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in accounting functions such as Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), and General Ledger
  • 1+ years' experience in Excel (Pivot Tables, Vlookup data validation & Filtering)
  • Accounting software such as Dynamics/Great Plains (Data Entry, AP, bank reconciliation, month-end closing support) within an accounting role
  • Ability to work in office located in 230 Lexington Green Cir, Ste 400, Lexington, 40503
  • Flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am - 6:00 pm

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Taft Hartley fund administration
  • Experience with banking institutions including soft and hard tokens and ACH initiation

Responsibilities

  • Manages Vendor payments for multiple Taft Hartley and Association trust funds
  • Validates GL coding for payment requests
  • Validates proper authorization of payment request
  • Processes check and ACH request including issuing checks and ACH’s for multiple trusts
  • Resolves issues with payment requests
  • Assists with opening, sorting, and preparing mail for distribution
  • Processes cash receipts and makes deposits at banks
  • Reconciles deposits for posting accuracy
  • Completes bank reconciliations
  • Supporting month-end close
  • Maintaining our auditors relationships
