What success looks like in this role: Plays a lead role in either storage or recovery administration, as described below. Storage Investigates SAN / NAS issues and provides resolution on all but the most complex issues. Performs system management and administration functions, including requirements analysis, systems configuration, and performance monitoring. Ensures the availability, reliability, and security of storage-related platforms and data management systems. Evaluates outages, reviews impact on supported systems, and troubleshoots incident resolution. Tracks storage system capacity and proposes appropriate expansion / efficiency improvement measures. Performs troubleshooting and leads problem resolution efforts involving technical or vendor support; works closely with network, server, and database teams. Performs crash / error and root cause analysis, working with technical colleagues on post-problem and trend analysis. Assists with determination of offsite storage and backup requirements. Analyzes performance reports and develops recommendations on process and efficiency improvements. Backup Analyzes logs and monitors backup activity, identifying errors and anomalies, recommending corrective action as required. Works with management to understand backup utilization, lifecycle, protection requirements and develop these into effective and workable solutions and processes. Works with management to help develop backup policies and procedures, ensuring their communication to relevant stakeholders. Develops and implements automated solutions to support operational objectives. Provides recommendations to improve backup design and reduce cost.
