About The Position

The Associate Patient Access Representative (APAR) is the first contact for visitors, handling customer service, patient registration, and financial clearance. This role includes check-ins, scheduling, payment collection, insurance verification, and compliance management. The APAR ensures smooth workflows and adherence to guidelines, preparing patients administratively and financially for their visits.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Required).
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare office setting and/or strong customer service background (Preferred).
  • Proficient in all types of registrations (inpatient, outpatient, and emergency admits).
  • Ability to monitor and perform all patient hospital and/or ambulatory movement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EPIC software.

Responsibilities

  • Handle customer service and patient registration.
  • Perform financial clearance for patients.
  • Manage check-ins and scheduling for patient visits.
  • Collect payments and verify insurance information.
  • Ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations.
  • Complete admissions, discharges, and transfers in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and perform all patient hospital and/or ambulatory movement.
  • Utilize EPIC work queue to pre-register scheduled patients.
  • Verify medical necessity in accordance with CMS standards.
  • Communicate relevant coverage and eligibility information to patients.
  • Accurately enter patient demographics, insurance, and financial information.
  • Gather and verify confidential health and financial information from patients.
  • Confirm the completeness of the electronic health record (EHR) and make necessary changes.
