  • Provides legal counsel and guidance on environmental and utilities matters.
  • Handles special projects assigned by the Deputy General Counsel.
  • Coordinates with clients and other Amtrak lawyers to ensure effective operations.
  • Identifies potential legal issues related to business practices and policies.
  • Reviews and interprets laws and regulations.
  • Provides oversight and financial management of outside counsel.
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to a state or District of Columbia bar.
  • Knowledge and experience in governmental contracting at the state or federal level.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and administering internal corporate programs.
  • Ability to apply legal and risk analysis to factual circumstances.
  • Strong legal writing skills.
  • Experience in budget development and analysis.
  • Ability to manage a large workload efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • At least 7+ years of professional legal experience in commercial transaction matters.
  • Understanding of commercial agreements, government contracts, environmental law, utilities law, and real estate law.
  • Experience in evaluating and responding to governmental requests for proposals.
