About The Position

The University of Kansas is seeking a tenured Associate or Full Professor in Exercise Science to serve as the Director of the Jayhawk Athletic Performance Laboratory. This full-time, 9-month appointment will involve teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate programs, conducting research in exercise physiology and sport science, and overseeing the laboratory's operations. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic and research excellence of the Department of Health, Sport, and Exercise Sciences, while fostering a culture of care and inclusivity within the university community.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., Ed.D., or other terminal degree in Exercise Science or related field.
  • Established record of teaching excellence in Exercise Science commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
  • Demonstrated research success through publications, awards, research grants, or working papers.
  • Evidence of ability to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with collaborative research projects with national and international sports organizations.
  • Familiarity with funding opportunities for research in exercise science and sport performance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct focused research in exercise physiology, sport science, and human performance while directing the research mission of the Jayhawk Athletic Performance Laboratory.
  • Teach six credit hours per semester in the Exercise Science program, including face-to-face or hybrid courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Oversee all staff, research assistants, and the budget of the Jayhawk Athletic Performance Laboratory.
  • Contribute to the service mission of the Department, School, and University.
