Job Overview The Associate Software Engineer works with a team of other software engineers, network and systems engineers to design, implement, and deploy software which meet customer's requirements, scales easily, removes the limitations of traditional networking solutions, and supports deployment in highly available environments. The Associate Software Engineer participates in architecture and design of various software components focused on creating applications that leverage technologies such as virtualization, micro services, SDN, NFV, and Big Data platforms and technologies. They work on technical assignments that are routine in nature, normally receive detailed instructions on all work and works under close supervision. This role will primarily focus on mobile app development in iOS and Android.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Engineering (Required)
  • Less than 2 years - Technical engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience in iOS development - Swift (preferred) or Objective-C OR Hands-on experience in Android development - Kotlin (preferred) or Java
  • Basic understanding of design principles and clean architecture
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with authentication flows (OAuth, tokens)
  • Experience with SwiftUI, Combine, or reactive programming
  • Gradle or Xcode build system basics
  • Experience integrating third-party libraries (Swift Package Manager, Carthage)
  • Familiarity with continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Experience with automated UI testing frameworks (e.g. XCTest, UI Automations) and Firebase (for analytics, push notifications, crash reporting)

Responsibilities

  • Participates in engineering projects by adapting and applying software solutions; conducting tests and inspections; preparing reports and calculations.
  • Ability to learn technologies being used. Understands system protocols, how systems operate and data flows. Aware of current technology benefits. Expected to independently develop a full software stack. Understands the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete software and automation work. Independent study of current technology.
  • Maintains clear documentation for new code and systems used. Documenting systems designs and business requirements.
  • Collaborates with technical team to deliver technical solutions. Continuously learns new technologies. Ability to offer and communicate ideas and opinions. Awareness of technology roadmap.
  • Contributes to emerging technologies to deliver business goals.
  • Understands current technology that supports business goals. Understands system protocols, how systems operate and data flows. Aware of current technology benefits. Expected to independently develop a full software stack. Understands the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete software and automation work. Independent study of current technology is expected. Interact with system engineers to define system requirement and/or necessary requirements for automation.
  • Understands and shares new ideas which improve an existing system/process/service. System analysis and innovation for continuous system improvement.
