About The Position

The Associate Director, Medical Communications at Jazz Pharmaceuticals is responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic publication plans within the oncology therapeutic area. This role involves collaboration with various internal stakeholders and external experts to ensure the timely and accurate dissemination of scientific information through publications and presentations. The position requires strong leadership skills, budget management, and adherence to publication guidelines, with a focus on enhancing the company's medical communication strategies.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree (Doctorate preferred: PhD, PharmD, or MD).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical medical communications/publications or medical writing.
  • Experience in strategic publication planning and execution of publication plans.
  • Strong knowledge of current good publication practices and medical writing guidelines (e.g., GPP3, ICMJE, CONSORT).
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with authors and external experts.
  • Experience managing budgets across several projects and managing external agencies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of clinical trial research and the drug development process.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in hematology/oncology is preferred.
  • Publications leader experience within the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Prior medical writing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead publication planning teams in assigned therapeutic areas and develop comprehensive publication plans.
  • Oversee the development of abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and manuscripts from Jazz-sponsored clinical trials and research.
  • Build effective partnerships with internal stakeholders, including medical affairs directors and clinical development teams.
  • Manage day-to-day interactions with publication agencies and participate in vendor selection activities.
  • Coordinate publication reviews and ensure compliance with Jazz SOPs and publication policies.
  • Develop and maintain content for Medical Science Liaison teams for assigned products.
  • Lead medical communication strategy activities at key medical congresses and ensure appropriate review of materials.
  • Support the development of scientific communications plans and oversee execution of tactics.
  • Provide scientific input into the development of commercial strategies and evaluate study data.
