About The Position

The Associate Director of Bearcat Bands at the University of Cincinnati plays a crucial role in supporting the Bearcat Bands program, which includes Spirit, Concert, and Jazz Bands. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music, Education, or a related field.
  • Three years of work experience directing a musical organization.
  • Seven years of relevant work experience or specialized training can substitute for the education requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Performing and/or instructional experience in outdoor and/or indoor competitive pageantry ensembles with an emphasis in Percussion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparations of the Bearcat Bands, including Spirit, Concert, and Jazz Bands.
  • Coordinate part-time contracted staff and maintain inventories of equipment, instruments, music, and uniforms.
  • Assist the Director of Bearcat Bands in administration and instruction of the program.
  • Serve as the head of Percussion Studies and rehearse assigned groups.
  • Co-coordinate marching band show design and contribute to marketing efforts for Bearcat Bands.
  • Conduct and monitor band sub-group performances and perform musical research.
  • Coordinate basketball bands and other administrative tasks.
  • Build relationships with internal and external partners to provide student leadership and educational opportunities.
  • Attend meetings and recruit new band members.
  • May supervise exempt and non-exempt staff, including hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
