About The Position

L3Harris is seeking an Associate Design Engineer for Aerojet Rocketdyne in Huntsville, AL. Aerojet Rocketdyne is expanding its presence in Huntsville, opening a new 379,000 sq.ft. manufacturing facility for inert solid rocket motor components, and continuing growth at its Defense HQ and Advanced Manufacturing Facility. This entry-level position will support senior engineering staff in Solid Propulsion, Nozzle Design, and Composite Design for Controllable Solids Propulsion, Solid Motor Propulsion, and/or Air-Breathing Propulsion fields, allowing the incumbent to gain experience and familiarity with the company's programs and products.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required for security clearance.
• Meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

• Perform various entry-level engineering duties for the Mechanical Design technical staff in Solid Propulsion, Nozzle Design and Composite Design for Controllable Solids Propulsion, Solid Motor Propulsion and/or Air-Breathing Propulsion field.
• Support senior engineering staff and gain experience and familiarization with our programs and products.
• Assist with the development of engineering designs that are used on controllable solids propulsion, solid rocket motor and/or Air-Breathing Propulsion applications.
• Tasks will vary but may include solid rocket motor composite case design and development, verification and test support related to our solid rocket motor products, and preliminary design tool development.
• Become familiar with and utilize computer aided design software tools used to create 3D models and perform basic engineering calculations to support concepts and preliminary designs.
