About The Position

The Associate Continuous Improvement (Assoc. CI) Engineer will support the process improvement initiatives in the North America Distribution Center (NADC) in Roanoke, Texas. This role contributes to ongoing efforts to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and strengthen operational performance. The ideal candidate brings foundational knowledge of Lean principles, Six Sigma Methodologies, and structured problem-solving techniques. This role will assist with data collection, process mapping, project coordination, and cross-functional collaboration to help drive alignment and support improvement activities. This role is well-suited for someone eager to grow their CI skillset in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of continuous improvement concepts and Lean methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, 5S, SPC, SQC, or similar process‑improvement tools.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access).
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks with guidance.
  • Highly energetic, creative, intelligent, and logical.
  • Able to work extended hours in critical situations.
  • BS in industrial, systems, mechanical engineering, supply chain, or a related field required.
  • 0–2 years of experience in continuous improvement, operations, or a related discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of distribution or warehouse operations preferred.
  • Experience supporting or participating in value‑stream or process‑mapping activities is a plus.
  • Exposure to Minitab or other statistical tools is beneficial.
  • Exposure to Lean concepts and principles; Lean certification is a plus.
  • Experience supporting projects or participating in improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the analysis of current processes by helping create Process Flow Diagrams and Value Stream Maps to identify waste, measure performance, and document improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in continuous improvement activities aimed at increasing productivity, improving quality, and supporting operational goals.
  • Participate in identifying process capabilities and key performance parameters.
  • Contribute to Kaizen events and other improvement workshops focused on waste reduction, error‑proofing, and workflow optimization.
  • Help implement standardized work practices, Kanban systems, and other Lean tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Support studies that stabilize and optimize key process parameters, including the use of basic SPC tools.
  • Assist in documenting process specifications, procedures, and controls for new or updated processes.
  • Collaborate with IT and operations teams to gather requirements and support system‑enhancement initiatives that improve throughput and accuracy.
  • Partner with DC Operations Managers and CI leadership to support improvement projects that increase throughput and reduce waste while maintaining quality standards.
