About The Position

Monday - Friday 8:45am-5:30pm, 40 hours/week This position is 100% onsite at TCU's Corporate Offices in Vacaville, Ca. Summary : The Travis Credit Union (TCU) Collateral Protection Specialist is responsible for tracking and balancing the Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) and Mortgage Protection Insurance (MPI) accounts, safeguarding the vested interest in the collateral. This role educates members about insurance requirements and helps them achieve financial wellness as a member advocate. Additionally, the Collateral Protection Specialist provides additional assurances regarding collateral security by ensuring all regulatory requirements are met. The specialist proactively works with members to ensure accounts are maintained. Profile: Ensures quality member service is provided when communicating with members and internal/external business partners. Interprets conditions and verifies that all insurance requirements have been met. Provides assistance and direction for internal business partners and members Advocates for members regarding CPI/MPI insurance requirements. Analyzes and approves supporting documentation for exceptions. Incorporates refunds or premiums from insurance certifications into loans. Processes, reworks loan payments, and manually adjusts account receivables. Addresses and resolves disputes, not to exclude legal matters and possible small claims court. Identifies opportunities for improvements and changes in processes and policies to increase productivity and members’ experience. Accurately completes weekly/monthly departmental reports ensuring all deadlines are met to include random audits focusing on risk management. Proactively works reports to avoid CPI or MPI being added to the loan. Balances department general ledgers and resolves discrepancies. Process all insurance and department correspondence. Collects documentation for submission and process of Non-Op status. Provides leadership support and demonstrates motivational skills Not all functions/tasks are listed above; however, those listed are considered essential.

Requirements

  • Proficient mathematical and analytical skills including reworking loan accounts, adjusting payment history, and balancing general ledger reports
  • Reports directly to assigned Consumer Lending management
  • HS Diploma or equivalent and minimum 1 year of previous related work experience
  • Understands the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and ensures compliance through monitoring and reporting of member activity as appropriate
