About the position

The Associate Classroom position at Metro Nashville Public Schools involves providing instructional support in classrooms during teacher absences. This role requires flexibility to meet both short-term and long-term needs, including supervising students, administering assessments, and collaborating with instructional teams to enhance student learning.

Responsibilities

• Fill vacancies created by absent teachers or those on leave.
• Provide tutoring and intervention services for students as needed.
• Plan daily lessons in collaboration with instructional leaders.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse student needs.
• Follow daily schedules, class rolls, and lesson plans provided by teachers or administration.
• Proctor and grade examinations, entering results into classroom records.
• Record attendance according to school policy.
• Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures for effective management.
• Participate in meetings and assist with school events as required.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
• 1-3 years of work experience in an educational setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Basic understanding of current technology.
• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
• Knowledge of School Board policies and practices related to teaching.
• Sensitivity and tact in handling problems and emotional distress.
• Ability to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Experience with Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals.

Nice-to-haves
