About The Position

•Provide direct and consultative services in assistive technology to students who are blind or visually impaired. •Assess students' assistive technology needs and recommend appropriate devices and software. •Teach students to effectively use assistive technology to access the general curriculum, complete assignments, and develop independent learning skills. •Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, related service providers, and instructional staff to integrate assistive technology into daily instruction. •Train teachers, paraprofessionals, and families on the use of accessibility features and specialized devices. •Participate in IEP meetings, assist in developing goals related to technology use, and document progress. •Maintain current knowledge of emerging assistive technology for students with visual impairments. •Manage inventory, ordering, and distribution of technology and materials. •Comply with all federal, state, and district regulations regarding special educatio

Requirements

  • KY Teaching Certificate with the Educational Professional Standards Board is required.
  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or Special Education preferred.
  • Endorsement or experience in Assistive Technology for students with visual impairments (CATIS) preferred.
