About The Position

The Assistive Technology Specialist at Woodland Middle School is responsible for implementing the Woodland District 50 curriculum, including Response to Intervention (RtI), and using a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students. The specialist will collaborate with staff and paraprofessionals to support students with special needs, maintain control of school-owned property, and communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding student progress. The role includes leading the assistive technology team, facilitating meetings, coordinating services, and providing training to staff on assistive technology programs and equipment. The specialist will also assist in writing IEP goals related to assistive technology needs and follow up with teachers and students after recommendations are made.

Requirements

  • Illinois Professional Educator License valid for Grades 6-8 with technology specialist, computer applications and/or computer science endorsement(s).
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Teaching or student teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Response to Intervention (RtI).
  • Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Support the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program.
  • Order materials and supplies as per district procedures.
  • Collaborate with staff regarding students needing specialized interventions.
  • Lead the assistive technology team and facilitate meetings.
  • Coordinate services with administration and process referrals.
  • Schedule evaluations and gather data from service providers.
  • Attend IEP team meetings to facilitate technology inclusion.
  • Train staff on specific programs or equipment used by students.
  • Work hands-on with students to assess and implement software and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues with Assistive Technology (AT) devices.
  • Facilitate the SETT process for assistive technology.
  • Assist in writing IEP goals for assistive technology needs.
  • Provide supplemental services for Tier 2 & 3 RtI interventions.

Benefits

  • Salary range: BA / Step 1: $42,199 - MA +45 / Step 8 - $59,249 based on experience and education.
