About The Position

The Payer Team Specialist drives payer‑related growth by strengthening key partnerships, optimizing contracts, and expanding non–private pay revenue. This role supports Senior Living Facility leaders by improving payer strategy, ensuring contract accuracy, and preparing the organization for ongoing healthcare changes. You will negotiate rates, update contracts for new services and locations, manage terminations, and lead payer education. You’ll also shape long‑term strategy to enhance revenue, outcomes, reputation, and overall market performance.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical, financial, and data skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, data analytics, pivot tables, and reporting.
  • Effective leadership and communication abilities.
  • Current knowledge of post‑acute care and healthcare policy.
  • Minimum 3 years’ post‑acute experience and 2 years in leadership.
  • Skilled in relationship‑building across the care continuum.
  • Professional presentation and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in healthcare or business (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Grow census through existing referral channels and new strategic relationships.
  • Build and execute Pinnacle’s payer strategy aligned with broader company goals.
  • Develop alternative payment models, including value‑based care initiatives.
  • Strengthen partnerships with ACOs, payer groups, and key healthcare stakeholders.
  • Support facility KPIs with a focus on revenue optimization and preferred provider status.
  • Build relationships with government agencies, associations, payers, and providers.
  • Create opportunities for Executive Directors to engage with payer organizations.
  • Train and support Facility Marketers, Liaisons, and Case Management teams.
  • Facilitate resident intake through strong collaboration with facilities and referral partners.
  • Optimize payer contracts to maximize census and revenue.
  • Deliver insights on revenue, census trends, contract performance, and profitability.
  • Support growth through market analysis, pre‑acquisition assessments, and integrations.
