About The Position

The Assisted Living Director of Nursing (DON) at Trinity View, a small, 20-bed assisted living facility within a non-profit retirement community, plays a vital role in managing and overseeing the medical and health services provided to residents. The facility is highly rated, receiving a 4-star rating and is supported by experienced leadership. This is a full-time position and includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Purpose and Summary This role is essential in ensuring residents receive the highest quality of care while maintaining strict adherence to state regulations. The DON supervises staff and is responsible for the overall delivery of health services within the facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; must hold a registered nursing degree.
  • At least two years of experience working in an Assisted Living preferred, along with previous supervisory experience.
  • Strong managerial and administrative capabilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and knowledge of the physical and emotional aspects of aging and related medications.
  • Must possess a nursing license in the state of NC and be certified or willing to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the delivery of health care services, ensuring the health and safety of all residents.
  • Oversee medication administration, making sure medications are given according to the physician’s orders and comply with state regulations.
  • Manage the ordering, labeling, and proper storage of prescription and over-the-counter medications.
  • Accurately enter physician’s orders into the electronic medical record and ensure timely follow-up as needed.
  • Review and follow up on laboratory results, consultations, and consultant pharmacist recommendations.
  • Complete incident reports as required and ensure appropriate follow-up in line with state regulations.
  • Coordinate health-related matters with other professionals and family members of residents.
  • Ensure all residents have completed necessary health assessments and TB testing prior to admission.
  • Develop and review individualized care plans and goals with residents, families, and staff.
  • Monitor meals and dietary needs, addressing any unexpected weight loss among residents.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and prepare related reports as assigned.
  • Notify families or responsible parties of any changes in the health status of residents.
  • Educate staff on infection control procedures and conduct regular rounds and audits.
  • Ensure residents receive appropriate assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Provide in-service training to staff regarding health concerns and resident conditions.
  • Supervise the nursing staff, conduct annual reviews, and manage coaching and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist in the orientation process for new employees.
  • Maintain confidentiality for residents, families, and company information.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, families, coworkers, agency representatives, and community health care providers.
  • Uphold Trinity View’s mission, vision, values, and customer service standards in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the administrator or executive director.
