About The Position

The JCC Kids Assistant Group Leader is responsible for assisting the Group Leader in providing a developmentally appropriate learning experience for the children in their care. Assistant Group Leaders engage with children, help Group Leaders plan and run activities, understand and follow licensing and sanitation standards, maintain an engaging and safe learning environment, and model appropriate behavior for children.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to learn and maintain proper North Carolina childcare licensing and sanitation laws/regulations
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with children, parents, and peers
• Ability to plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities for children and incorporate Jewish values when possible
• NC Qualifying Letter (required before start date)
• TB Screening and/or Test (required before start date)
• Medical Report (required before start date)

Nice To Haves

• Experience supervising children in a group setting, preferred
• Experience in Jewish studies, preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide constant/appropriate supervision of a group of 10-25 school age children, and take care of their welfare, health, and safety
• Engage in positive, developmentally appropriate interactions with children while setting appropriate boundaries, providing active listening, problem solving, and positive redirection
• Assist Group Leaders in tailoring classroom activities to children's needs and interests
• Foster strong classroom community by helping children develop empathy and conflict resolution skills
• Maintain the classroom space to provide safe and engaging learning opportunities that encourage children's participation and comply with licensing and sanitation requirements
• Ensure compliance with all current NC and DCDEE guidelines within the classroom and outdoors
• Participate in JCC All Staff Meetings
• Attend any required in-service trainings on an annual basis
• Model appropriate behavior for children and new Assistant Group Leaders
• Respect for and implementation of JCC values and mission
• Willingness and ability to learn and teach through a Jewish lens
