About The Position

The Iowa State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Women's Gymnastics Coach. This position will work under the direction of the Head Coach to assist in the daily operations and administrative functions for the Division I program with a commitment to adhering to university, Big 12 Conference and NCAA policies. Effectively teach, mentor and coach to develop successful and well-rounded student-athletes. Assist with planning practice sessions and competitive coaching situations. Identify and successfully recruit and retain academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes. Assist with administrative, pre-meet and competition-day operations. Assist with coordination of facility needs, practice calendars, competition schedules, and administrative projects. Help ensure academic progress and graduation of student-athletes. Contribute to and enhance a competitive athletic experience. Establish and maintain an environment conducive to the health and well-being and academic success of the student-athletes. Establish and maintain effective interactions with the students, colleagues, university community, alumni, media and the public. This position requires a high level of women's gymnastics knowledge along with strong motivational, teaching/coaching and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Requires the ability to travel extensively including overnight stays for recruiting and competitions. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience coaching or competing in women's gymnastics at a highly competitive level (post high school).

Nice To Haves

  • NCAA Division I women's gymnastics experience as athlete and/or coach.
  • Level 10/elite gymnastics coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and coach highly skilled female student-athletes and have strong recruiting connections.
  • Ability to coach and spot all four events with expertise in technique and skill progression training for vault and bars.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of gymnastics code of points.
