The Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach supports the Head Coach in the administration, coaching, and development of a competitive NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball program at Tarleton State University. This position contributes to the recruitment and retention of student‑athletes, academic monitoring, skill instruction, practice planning, match preparation, and operational management. The role promotes the mission, values, and goals of Tarleton Athletics, ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).; Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate, which includes evenings, nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Four (4) years of Division 1 collegiate coaching or playing experience
  • Recruiting experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Division I NCAA rules and regulations
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with video analysis systems (e.g., Hudl, Volleymetrics).

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
  • Master Degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Collegiate coaching experience at the Division I level
  • Recruiting experience and familiarity with recruiting management platforms.
  • Proven success coaching volleyball at the NCAA Division I level.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, conducting, and evaluating practices, drills, and training sessions.
  • Provides technical and tactical instruction to enhance student-athlete performance.
  • Contributes to match strategy, scouting, and film breakdown.
  • Supports strength and conditioning goals in collaboration with performance staff.
  • Participates in the recruitment process, including talent evaluation, communication with prospective student‑athletes, coordination of campus visits, and maintaining recruiting databases.
  • Represents Tarleton State at recruiting events, tournaments, and clinics.
  • Promotes a positive image of the university to prospects, families, and club/high school coaches.
  • Supports academic progress monitoring and retention strategies.
  • Fosters a team culture emphasizing personal development, academic achievement, and well‑being.
  • Assists with mentorship, conduct expectations, and student‑athlete support initiatives.
  • Assists with team operations including travel coordination, equipment management, purchasing, scheduling, and compliance documentation.
  • Helps manage program budgets in coordination with the Head Coach and Athletics administration.
  • Participates in community engagement, camps/clinics, fundraising efforts, and departmental events.
  • Ensures adherence to all NCAA, conference, and university regulations.
  • Maintains current CPR/First Aid certification and follows all safety protocols.
  • Upholds the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and student‑athlete welfare.
