About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Head Women’s Soccer Coach, the Assistant Women's Soccer Coach position manages aspects of the University’s varsity women’s soccer program. The Assistant Coach manages all recruiting efforts for the women’s soccer program. The Assistant Coach serves as the defensive coordinator, primarily providing tactical recommendations to the Head Coach and provides coaching instruction to the defensive unit (e.g., defenders and goalkeepers) of the women’s soccer team. The Assistant Coach is also responsible for assisting in the implementation of individual and team training programs assigned by the Head Coach. The Assistant Coach assumes all responsibility for the Women’s Soccer program in the absence of the Head Coach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Commitment and ability to maintain and exhibit the highest standards of ethical conduct.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate well to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Previous soccer playing experience at the collegiate or professional level.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provides tactical analysis and recommendations to the Head Coach regarding the organization and tactics of the of the team.
  • Provides game management, tactical adjustments, post-game analysis and evaluation, and coaching instruction to the members of the women’s soccer team.
  • Suggest and create sport specific training programs to enhance the student-athletes overall performance based on his/her analysis of team and individual athlete performances.
  • Coordinates with Athletic Training and Strength & Conditioning staff on all aspects of team strength and condition programs, injury recovery and prevention, and overall welfare of women’s soccer student-athletes.
  • Oversees day-to-day management of recruiting efforts designed to recruit academically qualified and athletically gifted student-athletes to the women’s soccer program.
  • Evaluates prospective student-athletes via in-person off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations, and through receipt of reports from high school and club team coaches on the athletic and academic performance of prospective student-athletes.
  • Prepares regular recruiting reports to the Head Coach concerning the recruitment status of prospective student-athletes and athletic progress of current female student-athletes.
  • Keeps all recruiting records in good order and provides regular reports to the Head Coach on the recruitment status of each prospective student-athlete.
  • Reports any major concerns or attention for recruitment related issues to the Head Coach.
  • Collaborates with the Academic Coordinator and Compliance Office to coordinate official/unofficial visits, evaluate prospective student-athletes admissibility and to predict the academic success of admissible student-athletes to the women’s soccer program.
  • Organizes and oversees NCAA compliance and administrative organization of the women’s soccer program.
  • Collaborates with the department’s compliance office and business office to ensure all administrative forms are accurate and submitted by stated deadlines.
  • Works with business office and facility & operations staff to ensure all travel arrangements for women’s soccer program are secured.
