About The Position

The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for the development, training, and performance of the basketball athletes, which typically includes all positions. This role involves teaching fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies essential for basketball athletes to excel. The coach will collaborate closely with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to implement an effective basketball program.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field (preferred).
• Previous coaching experience, particularly with basketball athletes at high school, college, or professional level.
• Strong understanding of basketball mechanics.
• Experience in analyzing meet films and using video analysis software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong leadership abilities and the capability to motivate and inspire players.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on performance metrics and improvement.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other coaching staff and players.
• Capability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends during the season.

Responsibilities

• Providing coaching expertise, and administrative oversight to the team of college athletes while collaborating closely with team coaches, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.
• Train and mentor basketball players in fundamental skills such as defense and shooting mechanics, and footwork.
• Create individualized training programs that address the specific needs and strengths of each athlete.
• Develop and implement practice plans that focus on improving athletes’ performance.
• Track and analyze individual and team performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Communicate effectively with other coaching staff to ensure cohesive team strategies.
• Foster a positive and competitive environment that encourages growth and development among athletes
• Serve as a role model and mentor to athletes, promoting teamwork, discipline, and a strong work ethic.
• Assist in scouting and evaluating potential recruits, providing insights on player potential and fit within the program.
• Maintain accurate records of player progress and development.
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team discussions regarding strategy and player development.
• Participate in practice and training sessions, demonstrating techniques as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
