About The Position

This posting is for a full-time, 12-month, exempt position. This position is responsible in assisting in all management aspects of the women’s NCAA intercollegiate basketball program in accordance with institutional, NCAA Division II and Conference bylaws and regulations. Essential Functions This position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance in the office environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 18 months of related coaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences including eligibility, recruiting and certification.
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Ability to objectively evaluate physical performance and mental capabilities related to the intercollegiate athletic program.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public.
  • Skills and experience in public relations and promotional activities.
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to protect confidential information and present a professional demeanor.
  • Team-oriented individual with willingness to take initiative and be flexible, and the ability to work under occasional pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively with an ethnic, cultural and diverse student population.
  • Knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications.
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to mentally and physically perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in administering an intercollegiate athletic program in compliance with the University, NCAA, and Conference rules and regulations as required.
  • Assist head coach in administering specific sports budget to include all team travel, game management, scheduling, selection of uniforms, and equipment/supply needs.
  • Serves as the primary recruiter for the women’s basketball program, identifying and evaluating potential student-athletes and organizing their recruitment in conjunction with the office of Admissions in order to meet recruiting goals.
  • Assist in practice preparation, on-court coaching, scouting reports, and planning physical conditioning.
  • Consult with various campus agencies as to eligibility, admission of student-athlete, facilities, security and financial aid.
  • Consult with student-athlete as related to discipline, academic progress and personal growth.
  • Participate in the public relations and promotions of the sports program to also include fundraising with the Oiler Club and assisting in all summer team camps.
  • Supervise graduate assistant coach and student manager.
  • Acts as a visible person to represent the University in a positive manner and to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents.
  • Help organize a team that is competitive and representative of the University’s philosophy and compatible with its mission.
  • Serve as Equipment Manager
  • Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for the position.
