About The Position

The Assistant Wellness Director assumes delegated responsibility and accountability for the provision of resident care according to professional standards of nursing practice in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or where states allow, minimum of 2-5 years leading a care team.
  • Prefer two-year professional nursing experience in a senior living care setting.
  • Two-years supervisory/management experience with direct care staff.
  • Knowledge of current Federal and State laws and regulations that apply to practice of nursing in licensed residential care.
  • Ability to apply standards of professional nursing practice in job situations.
  • Ability to provide leadership and formulate operational strategies.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures that reflect current clinical practice, professional standards, and facility philosophy of care.
  • Knowledge of appropriate procedures and ability to assume control during emergency and disaster situations at the facility.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and staff.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Registered Nursing License or Licensed Practical Nurse, in states where required.
  • Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and implements nursing policies and procedures that reflect current standards of nursing practice, company, and facility philosophy of care and practices while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff.
  • Monitors practices for effective implementation and achievement of results.
  • Conducts resident assessments, suggesting level of needed service packages to residents and their families, as directed.
  • Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage for the facility.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and application of Key Clinical Quality Indicators.
  • Proactively monitors and implements systems to achieve and/or surpass company thresholds.
  • Reviews 24-hour report from every unit daily to ensure timely, effective responses to significant changes in condition.
  • Gathers and analyzes facts, assesses situations, develops, and implements appropriate actions to investigate, notify appropriate parties, resolve issues, record facts properly, and prevent future reoccurrence.
  • Communicates findings/results to the Wellness Director or Executive Director.
  • Monitors and responds timely to Care and Concern program per facility policy.
  • Attempts to resolve all resident grievances seeking consultation or assistance from other departments of administration as appropriate.
  • Communicates directly with residents, families, medical staff, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, and Department Heads to coordinate care and services.
  • Establishes, implements, and monitors infection control program designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment.
  • Monitors staff for compliance with OSHA mandates on workplace safety.
  • Monitors the provision of care and services to residents on all shifts and evaluates regulatory compliance efforts through daily rounds.
  • Oversees and supervises development and delivery of in-service educational programs designed to equip nursing staff.
  • Assists Wellness Director with preparation for state survey.
  • Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve quality of services.
  • Consults with Wellness Director daily about resident status, occupancy, budget, staffing, and other relevant issues.
  • Participates in the development of and compliance with the department budget.
  • Proactively develops positive employee relations, incentive, and recognition programs.
  • Ensures 24-hour availability as nursing administration resource.
  • Serves as Nurse and Certified Nursing Assistant when coverage is needed.
  • Acts in administrative capacity in absence of Wellness Director.
  • Participates in all special community and agency events.
  • Comply with the community's privacy practices and procedures related to resident and employee records.
  • Assumes Wellness Director responsibility in the absence of the Wellness Director.
  • Directly supervises Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants.
