About The Position
Ready to dive into leadership, keep campers safe, and help make the waterfront the most exciting place at camp? YMCA Camp Abnaki is looking for an Assistant Waterfront Director to support all things water-related—swimming, boating, safety, and staff mentorship. If you’re a strong lifeguard, a confident role model, and someone who thrives on teamwork and sunshine, this might be your perfect summer job! The contract for this position is from June 11 through August 22. Opportunities for pre-season and post-season work may also be available. Requirements
- Must be 20 years of age.
- Current Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescue certifications (or ability to obtain prior to camp start).
- Experience supervising or leading aquatic activities, preferably in camp or youth setting.
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
- Must be willing to live on-site for the duration of the camp season (housing and meals provided).
Nice To Haves

- Water Safety Instructor
- Lifeguard Instructor
- Waterfront Management certifications preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Waterfront Director in supervising and managing all waterfront activities.
- Help prepare lifeguards and waterfront team members through training, coaching, and daily support.
- Enforce waterfront rules, respond to emergencies, and help make informed calls about lake conditions.
- Maintain waterfront equipment, boats, and facilities in top condition.
- Assist with camp-wide programming, theme days, and evening events.
- Model professionalism, teamwork, and the YMCA core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility.
