About The Position

Responsible for first level supervisory duties of a group of employees assigned to the Warrants Unit within the Communications Center. This unit is responsible for the processing of warrants, capias and injunctions, receiving requests from field units, and conducting computerized searches on their behalf. This position is also responsible for entering, cancelling, and modifying entries in the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computerized systems, ensuring completeness and accuracy. The unit must be staffed twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week, to include holidays and times of emergencies.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED
  • Two (2) years of experience processing warrants in an emergency communications center.
  • Must meet State of Florida applicant requirements pursuant to FS 401.465.
  • Must receive FCIC/NCIC Full Access Certification within six (6) months of hire date and maintain certification through the duration of assignment to the position.
  • May be required to complete and pass required skills testing.
  • This position will require an extensive background investigation and drug screening.

  • Visual acuity of 20/30 vision standard in each eye; if corrective lenses must be used to satisfy 20/30 vision standard, uncorrected vision should be no worse than 20/100 in each eye.
  • Must pass hearing test with less than or equal to 40 decibels in each ear under the frequencies: 2,000 Hz, 3,000 Hz, and 4,000 Hz.
  • Occasionally bend, squat, reach, grasp.
  • Occasionally lift up to ten pounds (10lbs).

Responsibilities

  • Performs all functions and duties of a Warrants Specialist.
  • Supervises day to day work of employees assigned to their corresponding shift.
  • Assigns work/duties to employees assigned to their corresponding shift.
  • Evaluates performance of employees assigned to the Warrants Unit and brings any concerns to the Warrants Supervisors attention.
  • Monitors error rates for employees and reports findings to Supervisor for appropriate action.
  • May assist in reviewing policies and procedures of computer assisted dispatch (CAD) system, computerized searches, and teletype related computer entries.
  • Performs a variety of tasks including but not limited to the operation of a telephone console having several trunk lines and extensions, Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) Terminal, and computer terminals.
  • Ensures all incoming requests from field units with entries into the FCIC/NCIC systems are answered and service is provided.
  • Conducts appropriate computerized searches, entering towed vehicles into CAD or related services on behalf of field units, and makes entries into law enforcement computerized records systems as directed.
  • Records information (incoming and outgoing messages) obtained via telephone and/or other sources (computer) from the public on the appropriate forms.
  • Handles entries of confidential Warrants, Capias, Injunctions, Civil Orders for Arrest into FCIC/NCIC and the County Clerk Management System.
  • May train new Warrants Specialists when hired.
  • Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Must be able to maintain regular and prompt attendance to include scheduled work hours, required training activities and meetings, mandatory overtime, and during times of emergencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
